Students inspired by artist Sonja Thomsen

5th grade students were inspired to create their own installation after viewing Sonja Thomsen’s exhibit called In Orbit.

Sonja Thomsen’s (Milwaukee) photographs and installations are designed to manipulate the ephemeral qualities of light. Her vibrant photographs, immersive photographic murals, and multifaceted metallic sculptures refract and reflect light. Thomsen’s new reflective environment is designed specifically for the Glass Gallery, creating a place to observe and revel in light.

Painting to Stomp Out Hunger

Wilson Elementary students designed and painted 300 paper grocery bags for the Stomp Out Hunger food Drive sponsored by Pick ‘N Save grocery store. Paintings on the bags vary from spring and Easter themes to student’s personal interests. Many of the bags included a collaborative effort as more then one student helped paint a bag. The bags are currently on display for purchase at the south side Pick ‘N Save.
